If Americans are so concerned about inflation, why put their money in money markets.?

The Dow Jones has lost nearly 1,000 points, partly because of fears of inflation (at least that's how the media, he says). CNN published an article who said that in the month of May, a record amount of capital that came in the money markets. The market averages 10% and money market order 4%? In the stock market that has dollars, and a money market that has dollars. Both of them are worth less than inflation. Can anyone explain the logic of this too me?
