money advice for 20 somethings

Question from cars and tips!?
I am 17 and I want to save money to buy a car. I want something that is good for gas (20-25mpg range at least) and it is small b / c it is just for me. But I do not want something very small as an insect or a guardian. I need advice and ideas on anything that could afford and is a good reliable car. Thank you for answering in advance!
Well, the best would be a private seller, not a dealer. I look for something with a cylinder 4, Escort, Grand AMS, Achieve, larks, contours, neon. you know. I had some GM cars, mid-sized 4-cylinder, and all had at least 30 MPG But who are fairly cheap now …
